SLOW FOOD NOOSA AUGUST BREAKFAST
Combine a highly qualified ‘animal nutritionist’
with a breed of Jersey and Holstein dairy cows on an organic,
irrigated property and what do you have? Barambah Organics,
a company which produces and markets organic milk, cream,
a range of flavoured yoghurts, quark, sour cream and a selection
of delicious cheeses, all organic.
Barambah Organics was founded by Ian Campbell and his wife
Jane to confront the problems of a deregulated dairy industry
by creating a company to produce and market their added-value
dairy products.
Ian will be the guest speaker at the next Slow Food Breakfast
, on Thursday 28 August, at the Blue Angel restaurant.
Ian and Jane took over the family dairy farm in Murgon from
Ian’s parent, Pat and Alistair Campbell, popular local
figures, when they retired to Noosa in 1999.
Ian has a degree in Rural Science from the University of
Armidale and brought fresh challenging ideas to the dairy
farm, turning it into organic pasture within two years.
The processing plant in Brisbane, which produces their range
of Barambah Organic dairy products, followed shortly after.
But the drought also followed shortly after, so Ian and
Jane had to relocate the dairy cattle to an irrigated property
in Inglewood, south of Brisbane, leaving the younger cattle
to mature in Murgon.
With Ian’s insight and experience into farming and
producing and marketing added-value dairy products, we can
ensure you an interesting start to your day as well as a
delicious breakfast from Daniel, our Leader/President .
