2005: Spring Fair, 4 September
This wonderful Spring Fair was held on Father’s Day at the Coolabine Goats Farm.
Dee Dunham makes beautiful farmstead cheeses and her daughter, Rachel, one-time Slow Food Noosa co- President, co-ordinated this memorable day. It was reminiscent of country fairs from long ago. There were baby goats, tractor rides, gum boot throwing competitions, egg and spoon races, home made toffee apples and even a fortune telling booth.
Naturally, being a Slow Food event there was plenty of delicious food – a gourmet sausage sizzle with local chutneys and delicious fare from Lavish Deli in Coolum. There was also wine and beer to drink as well as live music, cooking demonstrations and pasta salad making classes for the kids.
This fair set the benchmark for our school harvest fairs in the years to come.
